Guillermo Del Toro was born Oct,8th,1964 and is from Guadalajara,Mexico. He is a Mexican movie director,producer,screen writer and novelist. In his filmmaking career Del Toro has transitioned for Spanish language dark-fantasy pieces such as The Devil’s Backbone(2001) and Pans Labyrinth(2006) to more main stream American movies like Blade II(2002), Hellboy(2004), Hellboy II:The Dark Army(2008) and Pacific Rim(2013).
In addition to his directing credits Del Toro is a prolific producer. He has produces such movies as Orphanage(2007),Julia’s Eyes(2007),Biutiful(2010),Kung Foo Panda and Puss and Boots in (2011) and Mama in (2013). Ted Toro has based his career on fantasy and sci-fi horror movies. He almost directed The Hobbit films but, he left after creative differences. He still has a writers credit on the films do to his large contradictions to the story and script. Most of his movies are based on horror and sci-fi motifs but he also has a pertinent for religious and clockwork imagery as well. He has collaborated with Ron Perlman and Doug Jones on frequent occasions.
Currently Guillermo Del Toro has an animated movie he produced Book of Life out now the third Hobbit movie The Hobbit:The Battle of Five Armies out just before Christmas and Crimson Peak his haunted house movie starring Tom Hiddleston,Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam and Mia Wasikowska out in 2015.
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu was born on August 15th 1963in Mexico City, Mexico. He is the first director form Mexico who has been nominated for an Academy Award. He has also won the directors guild award and the best director award during the Canne film festival(2005). His four feature films to date Amores Perros(2000),21 Grams(2003),Babal(2006) and Biutiful(2010) have garnered him critical acclaim worldwide including two Academy Award Nominations.
Inarritu has worked with some of the best actors and actresses in Hollywood including Benicio Del Tor,Sean Penn and Naomi Watts on 21 Grams. Brad Pitt and Kate Blanchett on Babal and Javier Bardem on Biutiful. He also launched the career of Gael Garcia Bernal in Amores Peros while getting his film nominated for the Best Foreign Film Academy Award in 2001. This month his latest movie comes out. Birdman has been critically acclaimed widely by many film critics and fans alike. Once again Inarritu works with a stellar cast of actors from Micheal Keaton, Edward Norton,Emma Stone and Naomi Watts to Zach Galifianakis. Birdman is about a man who is directing a play based on a man who has been cast as super hero and can’t get out of the shadow of that character. Just started film Inarritu’s next film is called the Revenant. A period piece starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Will Poulter. Its based on a book of the same name and it about a man who seeks revenge on some men who rob and abandon him after he is mauled by a bear.
Alfonso Cuaron was born on November 28th,1961 in Mexico City. Cuaron is a director,screenwriter, producer and editor of such movies as The Little Princess(1995),Y Tu Mama Tambien(2001), Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban(2004),Children of Men(2006) and Gravity in (2013). Most of Cuaron’s work has been widely praised by audiences and critics alike. He has been nominated for six Adeacemy Awards including one for screenwriting for Y Tu Mama Tabien in 1996. Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing for Children of Men in 2006. He won the Best Director Academy Award,Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for Best directing for his film Gravity in 2013 and 2014. Cuaron was named one of Time’s most influential people of the year last year well.
Collectively Tel Toro,Inarritu and Cuaron are known as the “Three Amigos of Cinema” These guys are gonna be around for plenty of years to come. I will be looking forward to their films for many years. I can’t wait to see Birdman in the weeks to come.
