Well, it appears that we are getting a brand new version of Masters of the Universe on the big screen. It’s been 39 years since we had a live action adaptation of He-Man that starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor which currently holds a 21% Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. And it was only two years ago since Netflix’s new animated show concluded with seething reviews from the fans. But that was the past and now Amazon is delivering a new version of everyone’s favorite shirtless, muscular animated IP from the 80’s to see if it can still work and cater to the fans for the modern audiences in live action. After watching this new trailer for the new “Masters of the Universe” movie, as someone who enjoyed watching reruns of the original series as a kid (because I wasn’t alive when they originally aired), I can’t help but feel as though it might be way too late to try to make this IP work. This franchise may still please and excite those who are still fans of it, but I can’t help but feel as though that it may no longer have the power that it once had.
