Laika animation studios have made some amazing stop-motion animated films in the past couple of decades. “Coroline, ” “Paranorman,” and “Kubo and the Two Strings” are among their best and of the genre. They’ve mastered the art of stop-motion animation but haven’t come away with the big one, which is the Best Animated Feature Academy Award. Their latest film is called “Wildwood” and it’s directed by Travis Knight, which in turn is adapted from the book series by Colin Melroy. It stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay,  Carrie Mulligan, and Mahershala Ali. The premise is that the story follows Prue McKeel as she ventures into a magical, dangerous world in the forests outside Portland to rescue her baby brother. Here is the trailer.
