We all remember “jackass”. At least those of us with a birth year that starts with the number 19. We all remember laughing at their shenanigans, pulling pranks on themselves and people on the street, most of which resulting in injuries among themselves and we would laugh at their pain while our parents looked with disgust and disapproval constantly saying how stupid they are and how they were going to kill themselves doing these pranks while also worrying about us wanting to mimic and recreate their buffoonery that could result in us injuring ourselves. Those were the days. But here we are in 2026 and we have reached the end of an era with the final “jackass” film, “jackass: best and last”. The only question now is, do they go out with a bang? Or because of their age, do they go out with a whimper? The time has come to find out.
I’ve obviously been a fan of “jackass” for a while, but thankfully never to the point where I tried to recreate any of their stunts. But seeing them do stupid things to themselves brought me great joy and tremendous laughter as well as a few vomit inducing gags here and there. Truth be told, after they introduced new patrons in the fourth film, I always thought that it would eventually wane out the original cast members and make way for a new generation of “jackass”, but alas, it seems that this is the last of “jackass”.

In true “jackass” form, there are a lot of pranks and stunts in this movie that really made me laugh. It was really good to see their comradery on the big screen once again. One of the more interesting things that they did in this movie was show a few older stunts that they filmed years ago but could not air on television for obvious reasons when you see them. It was very interesting to see. And of course, all the new stuff that they did in the film was great as well. They also showed a segment from the last movie that wasn’t previously shown to audiences.
One of the things that did worry me about the film going in was seeing all of the footage of stunts from the previous movies in the trailer. I was right to be worried because about half of the movie just rehashes some of the old stunts that we’ve already seen. While it may not be a problem for the diehard fans of “jackass” seeing these stunts on the big screen again, I think of things from a collector’s perspective. Fans already own the show on DVD as well as the previous movies. So, if we wanted to revisit the old stuff, we could just pop in the corresponding disc and watch it. But when you have a new movie, I personally want to see all the new content. Because of that, I think a better title would have been, “jackass: the greatest hits”, because that’s what most of the movie felt like to me.

Overall, you know exactly what you’re getting into with “jackass: best and last”. A bunch of guys hurting themselves for your entertainment. If that’s not your thing, then this clearly is not the movie for you and nothing I say will convince you to change your mind. But if you’re a fan who has been following these guys all these years, I don’t think you will be disappointed. I personally had a good time with this film despite me wishing that it was all new material instead of a partial trip down memory lane. Can I go so far as to say that this is the best? Not really, I can’t. But if it is the Last, it was a very decent curtain call on the “jackass” gang.
