“Lanterns” is an upcoming HBO series for the DC Universe (DCU) that reimagines the Green Lanterns as a gritty, True Detective-style noir thriller, following veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and rookie John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. Created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, the show focuses on a grounded, Earth-based mystery to introduce the cosmic mythology of the Green Lantern Corps, with a premiere set for 2026.
