“Reacher” has reached its 4th season on Prime Video. I’ve come to enjoy Alan Richson as the title character. He makes a great protagonist. Season 4 is based on “Gone Tomorrow,” the 13th book from Lee Child, based on this very popular character. Like the other season, the main character gets a new supporting cast and involves himself in a new adventure. That’s what’s great about this character you never know where he’s going to pop up the next season and what kind of trouble he’s going to get himself into.

As always,  drifter “Jack Reacher” (Alan Richson) is on his own. This time in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. Doing what else, eating a cheesesteak. After he fills his stomach, he takes a train. On that train, he sees a woman Anna, a pentagon clerk, crying who seems like she may be holding a detonator. He approaches her to try to get her to rethink what she’s about to do. Then she looks up and sees a man at the back of the train and pulls a gun out of her jacket, and decides to shoot herself in the head. Soon afterward, a bunch of cops come into arrest him. Of course, he says he didn’t do it. This sets up Season 4 of “Reacher.”

Nick Santoro, the writer/showrunner of “Reacher,” has done a great job bringing this character small screens once again. This season, like the last few, is full of crime, action scenes, fight sequences, and all the things fans of this show have come to love about it. And of course, the best thing about it is that “Reacher always finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sam Hill, the director of episode one, brings this big tough guy with a big appetite into a whole new story full of troublemakers and intrigue.

This time around, the story mainly revolves around a missing flash drive with sensitive information. I’d call it a muguffin, which was a word coined by Roger Ebert, regarding an item or thing that the story of a film or television/ streaming show like this one revolves around. There are many characters in this season who are looking for the drive. Including the CIA, a New Jersey beat cop and international assassins, to name a few. Even the Philadelphia PD got involved in looking for this flash drive.

That’s where a lot of the supporting cast of Season 4 came in. Starting with Tamara Green (Sydelle Noel) and Shaun Dooherty (Kevin Corrigan), the two Philly  Detectives who got the case involving “Reacher.” Then there is  Jacob Merrick (Christopher Rodriguez Marquette), the brother of the deceased woman on the train. He is pretty mad about what happened and wants to figure out what happened. A blogger who is investigating the story Russell Plum (Kevin Weisman) also gets hippy deep in the investigation. They all have to look out for two dangerous Vietnamese assassins, Lila & Amisha Hoth (Agnez Mo, Anggun)  are trying to kill anybody who gets in their way. They have a scheme that could kill thousands.

The episode titles are always informative and should shed some light on what the show should bring to viewers this season. E1: Brotherly Love, Ep 2: Cage Fight, Ep 3:, One Small Step Ep 4:, Karambits and Pieces, Ep 5: Bridge, Ep 6: Plum out of Luck, Ep 7: Vote For Sampson, Ep 8: Cut,. This season is very in-depth and brings a lot of twists and turns to the story that takes place in season 4. These books are like cookie-cutter versions of themselves. They follow a pretty simple  formula. I think that’s what fans like about this show.

“Reacher” Season 4 is once again very good. It introduced a new story, and along with that, a whole lot of new characters. The story is based on “Gone Tomorrow,” which is something that the country should worry about as a whole. There is so much action and fight scenes along with car chases and intrigue thrown in for good measure. Child’s books lend themselves to a serialized season by season storytelling. That’s what makes shows like this and, “Bosch” and “The Lincoln Lawyer” work so good. They also have to have a great lead actor playing their main character. This one definitely has that in Alan Richson. He has become synonymous with this character, and I can’t see anyone else playing this big brut with a big appetite. I hope fans of the book and previous season will enjoy this season as much as I did. I wanted to go eat a cheasesteak right away.
