The inevitable thing happened as Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) finally shows up in Episode Six. It’s exactly the way you think it is because of the television spots and latest trailer that was released for the DC Studios show. Fillion does what he brought to the character in James Gunn’s “Superman”. He is obnoxious and annoying but more dramatic as he explains things about his character. He also talks about his relationship with Hal Jordan while having it out of course with John Stewart (Aaron Pierre). I liked that he showed up. I just wished he would have been in more of this episode. That being said, it’s John’s story, as I’ve been finding out in the last couple of episodes. He is back in the present trying to figure out what happened to Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) at the end of the first episode. 

Kelly McDonald is an actress I’ve loved in shows like “Boardwalk Empire”, “Department Q” and films like “No Country For Old Men”, “Operation Mincemeat” and “Brave”. She’s an Irish actress who has been pretty prolific in Hollywood for at least a couple of decades now. She owns the screen as Sheriff Kane. First opposite Kyle Chandler and now in episode six opposite Aaron Pierre. She holds her own opposite these macho men like she did in her other films and television/streaming series. The script does her a favor by making a very strong woman. As each episode airs, her character’s role in the town seems bigger and bigger, and she takes control of a lot of different situations. This is similar to how she takes control of John’s investigation of the death of Jal Jordan. The mystery still has more to reveal, but I wonder how she’s going to play into all of that in the final two episodes. 

Aaron Pierre has had quite the arc on “Lanterns”. First, he was the apprentice to Hal Jordan, and then he was going behind Hal’s back working for the Guardians. With the multilayered storyline taking place for many years, he has to put the pieces together from fragments of his memory from years before. He also has to deal with resentment from the townspeople who aren’t exactly enamored with Green Lanterns in their small Nebraska town. With Kelly McDonald’s character bringing in Stewart’s character, you know some big stuff is bound to happen again in this small town. I just hope what is revealed is worth the wait. My patience is starting to run out with every subsequent episode.
