This series has thrust viewers into the buddy cop detective aspects of the story right from the very beginning. The mystery of what was going on from the beginning was dragged out into the previous six episodes. Now, a flashback about Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) will hopefully shed some new light on what happened to Hal in the present. A hidden box holds some information that John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) needs to get to the bottom of this mystery. I’m just glad this series is close to being over because I’m running out of patience. This show has been going in circles for weeks now. I don’t know how anybody could have the patience to keep watching it.

The funeral of Hal was not attended by everybody in Hal’s life. So Jon had to find a way to get information from a dead man. Using Hal’s hologram to help him may not have been the best idea he’s had because the hologram is just as much a pain in the ass as the real Hal Jordan was. He has answers Jon is looking for but has some ultimatum to give the information to Jon. One of them is to see the woman Hal had a relationship with before he died. Kerry Kane (Kelly McDonald) isn’t happy about it either. The man she knew was dead, so seeing another version of a dead man wasn’t on her bingo card that day. 

An Einstein Rosenberg Bridge is the key to what Hal hid in the box, but it could lead to another planet that has the answers Jon is looking for. One mystery leads to another. That’s what this series has been all about from the very beginning. Tom King keeps making things more and more complicated with each subsequent episode of this show. Jon Stewart may know more than he lets on, though, as he’s coming clean with previously unheard of information. Can both of these characters, a Hal Jordan hologram and a real-life version of Jon Stewart, coexist with each other? That’s the real question because the other version of Hal didn’t get along with Jon Stewart at all because he was trying to take his place as the Green Lantern of sector 2814.

Hal’s backstory is the key to all of what’s going on in the show. How it all comes together is the million dollar question. Also, how everything comes full circle for both of the main characters. Even characters from some previous episodes come back to make this more confusing.  I don’t know how I feel about this, but I hope that “Lanterns” is finished in a satisfactory way. Not in a way that asks more questions than it answers. I wouldn’t like that at all, that’s for sure. Fans of the Green Lantern comics are better than me because I don’t know why I’ve stuck by this show as long as I have because I have friends that have given up on it already. One episode left. I hope it’s a great one.
