South Korean cinema has been some of the most exciting there are the last few decades. With zombie films, gangster movies, and everything in between, including wild horror films. Some amazing directors have been discovered after they made movies from this country. “Hope” (2026), the latest, South Korean sci-fi action thriller directed by Na Hong-jin, starring Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander, about a remote village near the DMZ that must fight for survival against a mysterious, possibly extraterrestrial, threat after a tiger sighting escalates into a larger crisis. The film is set for a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2026, with a wider release in South Korea in the summer 2026. Here is the teaser trailer for “Hope.”
