In 2023, Pixar released a rom-com called Elemental that I personally love. It was a refreshing watch as we never see one aimed for a kid/ family-friendly audience. Now, we have another on the horizon in Illumination Entertainment’s 2027 film Not Alone. Ahead of their release of Minions and Monsters, Illumination debuted the teaser for Not Alone. The movie is the studio’s first original film since 2023’s Migration. That movie had a similar trailer campaign that made it seem as though it was going to be more mature and visual driven, but it barely made waves upon release. While I fear Not Alone may have a similar fate, and Illumination doesn’t have the most respectful track record amongst animation studios, it at least has star power in Timothee Chalamet and Selena Gomez playing our two leads as they fall in love in the midst of an accidental alien invasion. The trailer focused more on the love story aspect, but it did have me curious as to how the film will incorporate aliens into it. We’ll see how things turn out when the movie hits theaters next April, but for now, I’m surprisingly sold on it. Here is the trailer for “Not Alone”
